Message from Charles Mulli
October 2009

During this time of national disaster in Kenya caused by the severe drought, the whole country has been lamenting of the worst ever famine and decline of our economy.
In the midst of all of this, MCF has been able to feed 1,050 school children daily as well as 8,500-10,000 members of the surrounding community. We’ve also begun drilling two boreholes and have purchased a new water tank for transporting water from MCF Yatta to MCF Ndalani. What a relief! We are so thankful for your prayers for
our family and for our country. Your prayers are felt and mean so much to us. We also wish to thank those who donated generously towards the completion of these important projects that we really needed.
As I write, I can hear the beautiful voices of the MCF Mission Choir singing with joy and I can't wait to bring them to Canada. The choir is composed of very energetic and gifted young people with great potential and many talents. They have several presentations that will thrill both young and mature audiences in the U.S.A. and Canada with songs, acrobatics, karate, African traditional dance and stories of hope. I am very grateful for each one of you who has participated in making sure this trip will be a great success! – Ev. Dr. Charles M. Mulli, MCF Founder & CEO
Drought Update
We are grateful for everyone who responded to our emergency appeal for drought relief in July. Your response was overwhelming and we received enough funds to help MCF drill four boreholes, purchase a 15,000L water truck and provide food relief for the children and surrounding community. Your generosity helped us respond quickly and provide hope for a community in desperate need. On behalf of Charles & Esther and the whole MCF family – Thank You!
MCF began drilling two of the wells in Ndalani last week and they will start drilling the other two at Yatta soon. They still need a third borehole at Yatta to support their extensive agricultural efforts there. Visit our website to see how you can easily help fund this last borehole at Yatta through the Milk it for Mully campaign.

Donations from Canada are enabling MCF to provide a hot meal each day, six days a week, for over 1,000 children in the community surrounding Ndalani. Some children are walking 10 miles for a hot lunch and a cup of water – their only meal of the day. MCF is also able to offer 5kgs of dry maize and 2.5kgs of dry beans to desperate families in the area, covering 8,500-10,000 people from the surrounding community.
The boreholes and food aid provide comfort and relief for MCF, as their farms have experienced a devastating loss this year. As of September 1st, the Thika River was completely dry except for one shrinking pool and as a result, the farm was supplying only 8-9% of MCF’s operating income, compared with 40% before.
This September a team from Grande Prairie participated in the feeding programs at MCF. One of the team members recalls their experience:

“Feeding the children from the school nearby was an absolutely overwhelming experience. Many had very obvious signs of suffering. This touched each one of us beyond what we could explain accurately. The work Charles is doing to help provide the only meal for these kids every 24 hours is such a difference maker – literally life vs. death for these young children.
Praise God for the work of MCF. Children are clothed, fed, cared for, loved, secure, comforted, challenged but most of all given hope in the worst of circumstances. It is one thing to talk about hope when we have jobs, food, and family. It’s quite another thing when you have been abandoned and don’t know where to turn and then are rescued by the Mully Children’s Family.” – Alden Harms, Grande Prairie, Alberta
Yatta Pipeline Underway

Construction on the Yatta Pipeline is now underway! The pump-house is completed and the trench is being dug to lay the pipes. Even though there is only a trickle in the Thika River near the Yatta home, MCF is preparing itself for the day when the rain does come and the river fills up again.
The pipeline will increase MCF’s agricultural output and will help build their capacity to withstand prolonged droughts in the future. Thank you to everyone who invested in this vital project over the past six months. Ndalani Bridge Construction
Even in the midst of a drought, God delivers miracles and opportunities for us to seize. MCF has been waiting for the chance to construct a bridge across the Thika River to go to the other side of their farm in Ndalani, but the water in the river made it too difficult to complete. This drought is providing the perfect opportunity for MCF to construct the bridge, a project they’ve been waiting several years to complete.
